Avoid High Prices on Kota Kinabalu Waterfront

Kota Kinabalu waterfront has long been recognised as the place to go and watch the sunsets and have a drink. However in recent months with the commencement of redevelopment, something seems to have affected the sewage problem with the result of unpleasant smells permeating the area.

Prices have always been high  on the waterfront but the canny traveller can find more pleasant surrounding in the Beach Street Area and Asia City.

Beach Street despite its name is a few blocks away from the waterfront due to extensive land reclamation when KK was rebuilt following the WW 2.

Many people are surprised at the high prices for alcohol but bargain can still be found at places such as the Pirates Rib shack Diner where some of the best ribs in town are available, together with all day breakfasts, Chinese and local food from associated outlets

Save Money at Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort

Many tourist do not realise how far away from Kota Kinabalu the Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort is and the only way to get into town is to pay for the shuttle bus or taxi, which can prove expensive. The remote situation of the Shangri-La's Rasa Ria Resort results in paying high cost for food drink compared with the costs and option available in Kota Kinabalu and nearby towns and villages.

Some tourist have realised that Borneo Tips can arrange economical car hire packages, which not only will save them money but provide the freedom to visit neighbouring attractions at their own leisure. Car hire prices start from around RM90 per day.
